January 28 Weekly Connection

Hope you are having a good week!  Here are the things to keep in mind over the next few days.

Sunday is a busy day here at our church.  I want to be sure everyone is aware of our Souper Bowl Luncheon and Information Meeting.  Following worship we will get together in Veno Hall to enjoy a variety of hot soups and delicious breads. We will have about 10 different soup options to choose from.  Dessert and beverages will be provided.  EVERYONE IS welcome and urged to be here!   Don’t worry about bringing anything – just come and enjoy warm foods and fellowship!  We will also be spending some time following lunch looking over the proposed revisions to our church bylaws as well as the budget for the coming year.  This will give everyone ample time to look over these items and ask questions prior to our Annual Meeting in February.  Please plan on being here!

Of course Sunday begins with worship at 10:00.   Great music, message from Pastor Kevin, time for sharing your prayer concerns and praises!  Meg has loving volunteers in place for Kids Connection and Nursery.  Start your week with your church family!

As I mentioned previously, our Annual Meeting is on Sunday, February 14th following worship.  This is the time we set aside to review the activities and business of the past year and look over what is being planned for the current year.  If you typically submit a report for this meeting, I would appreciate having that in the office by Friday February 5.  That will give me ample time to get the booklet together for the meeting.  Thanks for your cooperation.

Nursery Support
– We could use a few more people to volunteer in our monthly (or less) rotation to be with the little ones under age 3.  Thanks to those who have already expressed interest!
Supplies needed! If you know anyone getting rid of an old high chair, it would be helpful for us to have one in Veno hall in addition to the one we have in the nursery space.  Two other things we could use are a Boppy pillow slipcover, and a pack of size 3 diapers.  Please contact Meg before dropping anything off so that we don’t get more items than we have space for!  Thanks so much!!

Family Date Time! Sunday Feb 21, 12:15pm.  We’ll start at the Papa Gino’s at the Walpole Mall, and then enjoy the play space & arcade games inside the mall.  The Barnes & Noble Cafe is close by for a sweet treat too! This is for families with infants through teenagers- a great way to end vacation week and celebrate a belated Valentine’s Day as a family!

Building Stewards Final Call!  Pastor Kevin is looking for input on the best evening to schedule a meeting.  We are leaning towards a Monday.  Is that a problem – please check in with Pastor and let him know.  Thanks!

Serving on Sunday:
Greeters:  Buki & George Chukwurah
Ushers:  Bev Alty, Marie Pierre
Kids:  Angela, Meg and Shannon

That is all for now – looking forward to seeing you on Sunday at worship and lunch.

Hope you are staying warm – it certainly is brisk out there!

Here are some of the things you need to keep in mind over the next several days.

Sunday morning worship begins at 10:00 with an inspiring time together!  Great music and message, praises and prayers shared and a time for coffee and fellowship.  Our Kids Connection provides caring volunteers to be with our little ones and give them a fun place to learn.  Nursery care is also available.  Please speak with Meg if you are able to help out with our growing Nursery needs!

Faith Seeds was scheduled to meet on Sunday afternoon, but I suspect that will not be the case.  I have heard back from several people who are not able to be here.  Please give me a call at the office if you are interested in working on lessons at home.  Hopefully as the weather improves, we will be able to get back to being together regularly.

Council members are reminded of the meeting on Monday evening at 7:00 in the Ruth Room across from the office.

Have you signed up for the “Souper Bowl Luncheon” on January 31st?  Look for the sign-up at coffee time on Sunday morning.   We are looking forward to trying your favorite soups. Beverages and breads will be provided.  We will also have a brief meeting following lunch in order for everyone to have information to review prior to the Annual Meeting in February.

Building Stewards!  Pastor Kevin would like to schedule a meeting of this team.  Please check your schedules and let Pastor know what evenings are the best for you.

Please see Georgia Shaw for your 2015 financial statements.

We are so grateful for the lower fuel prices this winter season!  That has been very helpful aswe are needing to burn extra oil during this time of bitter cold to keep the building warm and prevent other issues.  If you are able to make a financial contribution to help defray the oil cost, that would be a great help.  Thanks for considering this.

Serving on Sunday:
Greeters:  The Chadwick Family
Ushers:  Jim Malone, Bob Russell
Kids:  Georgia, Janna, Meg

That is all for now.  We’ll will be in touch with anything that may have forgotten. Thank you for your faithfulness to our church here.

Well, it seems like old man winter finally caught us!  These are some of the things you need to be aware of for the next several weeks at church:

Tomorrow evening at 6:30 is Free Family Film Nite!  Celebrate the new year with a family friendly animated film for ages 5 and up in Veno Hall.   Kids are welcome to bring a pillow and sleeping bag to keep them comfie as well as a snack to share.  This will be an early evening leaving plenty of time for the little ones to get home and settled down for bed!

Saturday morning at 9:00 is the WISH Gathering for all ladies.  Get together in Veno Hall to work on prayer shawls, enjoy coffee and fellowship as well as chat about distribution of the WISH profits from the Christmas Fair.  Our WISH group has been blessed to make several donations to World Vision as a result of their hard work for the Fair.  They have really made a difference in other lives!  All ladies are welcome.

Sunday morning worship begins at 10:00.  Sometimes it seems “routine” to list all the activities of Sunday, but I know that if you are here you will be blessed and better prepared for the week ahead.    We share this time together as a church family to sing, share our prayer concerns and praises, have our Kids Connection for the younger ones, hear an encouraging message from Pastor Kevin and be blessed by our choir and United Quartet.  I hope you will plan now to make Sunday morning worship part of your weekend plans.

You will recall that in the past 6 months we have been blessed by the arrival of several new babies here in our church.  Those little ones are now more comfortable being cared for in our Nursery during worship.  So…Meg needs a few more volunteers to help out with this need.  This is on a rotating basis and obviously the more that can help out, the better!  Please see Meg if you are able to make this 45 minute monthly commitment.

Please look for Elsa or Georgia if you are in need of offering envelopes for 2016.

As mentioned before, the Hospitality Team is planning a “Souper Bowl” luncheon for Sunday January 31st following worship.  Please note this has nothing to do with the traditional Super Bowl Football game!  It is a time to get together on a cold Sunday and enjoy hot soup and breads with friends!  Some important information will also be discussed in order for everyone to be well -informed prior to our Annual Meeting on February 14th. Mark your calendar and plan to be here!

We will have a “mock up” of the church directory available at the January 31st luncheon.  I will ask that you look at your contact information and initial it wth your approval OR make the necessary changes.  That info will be what is printed in the directory and will be distributed to our church family here.

If you typically prepare a report for the February 14th Annual Meeting, please start thinking about that now.  I would like to have the reports in the church office by February 5th in order to allow me time to compile them for the meeting.  Thank you for your attention to this.

I have posted new sign-ups outside of the kitchen for coffee time.  Thank you to everyone who has been stepping in to help out!  Again, there are 3 ways you can help out:  come a bit early to set-up, provide snacks for everyone to enjoy and clean-up.  The sign-ups will take us through the end of April.

Serving on Sunday:
Greeters:  Rich & Linda Carter
Ushers:  Dottie Cotter, Sandy Habib
Kids:  Marie, Meg, Sandy

I think that is all for now.  Thanks for your faithfulness to our church here!

A new year with lots of things going on!

Here are some things to keep in mind as you plan your time:

Singspiration begins at 7:30 tomorrow evening here in our sanctuary.  This is always a great evening of uplifting music and “special” numbers.  If you enjoy singing great hymns of our faith and hearing great music as well, plan to be here!

Saturday morning at 9:00 the Women’s Book Study meets in Veno Hall.  Please read Chapter 3 in preparation. Feel free to bring your coffee with you!

Sunday morning worship begins at 10:00.  It was great to see some new faces here with us last Sunday. Don’t forget to introduce yourself to any visitors during greeting time…and invite them to join you for coffee following worship!  Pastor continues his series on what the church believes.  Last week the focus was on the Holy Spirit and that will continue on Sunday.  Meg has Kids Connection in place to get our little ones excited about Jesus – even at a very young age.  Meg is looking to increase the coverage in our Nursery as well.  Last week we had 3 little ones needing care.  If this is an area where you can help out, please speak to Meg.

Ushers:  Donna & Russ Wood
Greeter:  Bob Russell
Kids:  Georgia, Linda and Meg

Be sure and pick up your offering envelopes from the table in the Welcome Center.  If you would like to receive envelopes for 2016 or have any questions, please speak to Elsa or Georgia.

There are lots of things happening here as we begin 2016. As we look towards our Annual Meeting in February,we are planning a “pre-annual soup luncheon”  on January 31st following worship.  The by-laws will be distributed and the new budget should be available as well.  By doing this, everyone will have ample time to review these items before the Annual Meeting on February 14th.  Please plan on joining us that day!  Our NEW Hospitality Team will be heading up this luncheon – look for details in the coming weeks.  I think we will be looking for you to bring a favorite soup to share so you can start thinking about that now!

At the luncheon on the 31st, I will have a “mock up” of the new church directory.  This will enable everyone to confirm their information before the directory is actually printed.  If you have not updated your information, you can do it online via the link you received earlier in the week or if you prefer, you can pick up a form from one of the Resource Tables and return it to the office.  I appreciate your help in getting this done!

I am happy to see our Resource Tables being used!  We try to keep timely articles, Our Daily Bread, magazines etc. available for people to take and read.  If you currently receive any at home or have any appropriate material that you would like to contribute, please let me know.

Our Faith Seeds ministries continues to grow!  In the coming weeks you will be hearing more about howFaith Seeds and Blessing Bags is expanding!  There are many opportunities to help out.  Donna Wood is taking the lead on this and has all the details.  We always are looking for new people to help review correspondence lessons from incarcerated women.  I have marked the church calendar for Faith Seeds to meet on Sunday afternoon, January 24th in Veno Hall.  We have not met regularly in quite a few months for a variety of reasons.  Thank you to everyone who has continued to work on the lessons on your own.  I hope you know how much the girls appreciate this!  They often mention how much they look forward to receiving new lessons and reading our encouraging words for them.

Look for an insert in your bulletin on Sunday for information on Free Family Film Nite planned for Friday evening, January 15th at 6:30.  Fun for kids of all ages!

I think that is all for now – hope to see you on Sunday!
