Hope you are having a good week! That little April snow caught us off guard a bit – it does keep us on our toes doesn’t it?
Saturday morning at 9:00 is the next get-together of the women’s book study. Meet in the Ruth Room across from the office – it is an easy space to warm up 🙂 We’ll be looking at Chapters 6 & 7. Please read those chapters in preparation if you can. Bring your coffee with you or we have a Keurig available as well.
Young Life will be hosting its 3rd annual talent night this Saturday at 7pm here in Veno Hall. It will feature Capernaum (young life for teens with special needs), Wyld Life (middle schoolers), and our Young Life high school-ers. Wouldn’t it be such an encouragement for these families to see a great presence from members of the host site? Tickets are $5 and go to benefit scholarships for Capernaum Camp.
A season of prayer…a time you set aside time to specifically pray for our church needs. One opportunity for you to do this is Sunday mornings prior to worship. Meet in the church parlor for a time of prayer. People arrive at different times on Sunday mornings. You are welcome to come and go as you need to. Special thanks to Yuniya for taking the lead in this.
Sunday morning worship begins at 10:00. A wonderful way to begin your week! Great music, an encouraging message from Pastor Kevin, time to share your prayer needs and connecting with your friends here over hot coffee. Kids Connection and Nursery are also up and running. A special word of THANKS to those who volunteer in our kids programs – as our need has increased, more volunteers have stepped in to help out. Thank you!
Don’t forget that Young Life meets here on Monday evenings at 7:27 for all high school age kids.
You may recall that a few weeks back I mentioned that Roberth, our Compassion child that our former Diaconate had faithfully supported for many years had completed the program. I spoke with Compassion yesterday and they wanted to extend their deep appreciation for that support and also to let us know that Roberth is planning to continue his education to become an engineer. Isn’t that wonderful!? We also received the information on the new child we will be supporting. His name is “Kevin” (how appropriate:) He is 8 years old and is from Ecuador. Meg supports a child from Ecuador and there may be others as well. I believe the church Council may take up the financial support for Kevin. I would encourage you to take a look at the Compassion website as well as the World Vision site. These are both solid ministries that do great work to both physically help deserving children and families as well as partner with local churches to guide them to faith in Christ. There are many children in need of sponsorship. Some have been waiting for over a year. – for $38.00 a month you really can make a lasting difference. Please check out those sites.
Thank you for your generous response to our Easter offering. In Pastor Kevin’s letter he mentioned two needs where would be directing those funds. One was for Michelle Hughes’ trip to North Asia through TEAM. We received $1720.00 towards that cause. A check was mailed to TEAM today. Michelle will also direct someone here in the states to keep us updated on her trip. The second area was for our church needs. We received $2540.00 designated to church financial obligations. THANK YOU!
Please speak with Elsa or Georgia or call the office with any questions you may have.
~Thursday April 21, 6:30pm We’ll have a game night here at the church. Bring a snack to share!
Church Council members – the next meeting is Monday, April 25th at 7:00 in the Ruth Room across from the office.
