I hope you have been enjoying this beautiful stretch of weather we have been having! Kids are out of school and vacation plans are being made! Here are the things to keep in mind as you plan your time:
Sunday morning begins at 8:45 with prayer time in the church parlor. This has been a huge blessing as we see people coming together to pray for our church each Sunday. You are encouraged to stop by as you are able. The doors may be closed but you can slip in without a problem. Prayer time finishes up about 9:30. Worship follows at 10:00 in the sanctuary. Kids Connection and Nursery volunteers are also in place to help with kids of all ages. Great music, praise and prayer, fellowship are all part of our time together. Being here most days I manage to hear quite a few comments from folks as they wander in and out. The two I heard a lot this week were, “What a great message from Pastor Kevin last Sunday!” and “Chris’ offertory last Sunday was unbelievable!” Don’t miss out – be here on Sunday!
Following worship, we enjoy coffee in the fellowship hall. We would love to have a few new faces bring a snack to share during this time. Nothing home made necessary! Picking up something when you do your grocery shopping is fine! Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to help out with this time – whether setting up, baking, cleaning up – we notice and you are appreciated!
For the summer months we are going to continue doing coffee time the same way as we have been doing it. I have put new sign-ups outside of the kitchen. I encourage you to sign on the dotted line to help out. And perhaps consider keeping it to a simpler plan for the hot summer Sundays – someone to make coffee and lemonade and 2 treats to share should be plenty. Please note that there will be no coffee time on July 3rd due to the holiday weekend.
Young Life has met here on Monday evenings for a few years. We hear the kids and we may even see them come and go but we don’t really know them and they don’t know us. All that can change with a bit of help. The Young Lifers will be going to camp on Saturday, July 2nd and returning on Friday, July 8th. The meeting point is a school right off of Route 1A in Walpole. Meg is looking for some volunteers to send the kids off and welcome them back with cold drinks, snacks, coffee etc. Could you help with this? Meg has a list of needed items. We already have some volunteers in place and we need a few more.
Those items can be left in the bins in the Welcome Center at the display table. Thanks to Donna Wood for faithfully coordinating this growing ministry.
For quite a while there has been a lack of therapeutic professionals in our area for referrals. I want to let you know about a new counselor here in Norwood. We received a letter of introduction this week from Nancy Yen. She is a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist. Pastor Kevin met with her today to get to know her a bit more and get a sense of her experience and beliefs and work. She is a Christian gal that we feel comfortable recommending. Take a look at her website if you are interested in learning more about her. Nancy Yen Counseling
I am in the process of updating the bulletin boards around the church. I have posted new sign-ups outside of the kitchen both for coffee time for the summer and for altar flowers. Take a look at both please 🙂 The altar flowers are a nice way to recognize a special person or event in your life. Cost of the flowers is $30 and you are welcome to take them with you following worship. We take care of ordering them and delivery – all you have to do is sign up!
“THE STORY” is the book that Pastor Kevin will be using in connection with Sunday messages beginning July 10th. We have not received the ordered copies of the book yet. I know some people do not have a book yet. I will make copies of the first chapter and leave them on the table in the narthex. Pick up a copy on Sunday if you need one. Please read the first chapter in preparation for the first message on July 10th.
Michelle sent a new update from her work in China. Look for it on the display able in the narthex.
