Re-Connecting!

The Weekly Connection is back!  If you’re on our email list, you haven’t missed it, but the blog admin has been away, but now we’re back in action!  Hope you have been enjoying these nice summer days!  We’re highlighting some of the things to be aware of over the next few weeks:

Don’t forget… Kid’s Club Thursday nights 6:30-8:00 for kids ages 5-10. The last one is Thursday the 28th  “Join new friends and get to know God with our theme: OASIS- Finding a new start with God’s refreshing love.”  We have planned some fun stories, crafts, games and snacks!

Sunday worship begins at 10:00 in the sanctuary.  This will be a special service as we have a baptism.  This is always a meaningful part of our service.  Our choir will be singing, great music, praises, prayers and an inspiring message from Pastor Kevin based on “The Story.”  As you know Pastor is away this week so I am not sure of what you need to be reading – let’s just read Chapter 3!   That may be right or it may be wrong but reading another chapter is always good!  Kids Connection is in place for the summer months.  Coffee time follows in Veno Hall.

Prior to worship, prayer time happens in the church parlor from about 8:45 – 9:30.  This is an important part of our Sunday – time specifically spent together praying for our church.  Stop in as you are able – it will be a blessing to your day!

The CARE TEAM will meet together briefly on Sunday following worship.  Take your coffee with you and meet in the Welcome Center.  The CARE TEAM aims to take care of needs that anyone in our congregation may have.  Cards are sent on a regular basis, rides are provided for folks as we are aware of a need. They also do some visitation of those who may be homebound or would welcome a friendly face.  If you are interested in helping out with these types of things, you are welcome at the meeting!

Be sure and stop by the Faith Seeds table in the Welcome Center.  We received wonderful uplifting notes from gals who received the Blessing Bags (those backpacks that we collect!)  Stop and read them!

Don’t forget that for the month of August we are collecting onesies and diapers for triplets recently born to one of our families!  Look for the display in the Welcome Center in the coming weeks.  Sizes: preemies, newborn and small sizes.  I have posted some info/details on the bulletin boards around the church.

Just a reminder that our Open Door ministry will be “closed” for the month of August.  We have a good group of faithful volunteers who will be taking a much needed and well-deserved break!  THANK YOU to all our volunteers who make things hum along smoothly 🙂

Be sure and sign-up to help with summer coffee – we all enjoy that time and just picking up a goodie when you shop or helping with set-up or clean-up makes a big difference.

It would be very helpful if a few people could jot down the prayer and praises on Sunday morning. Really easy 🙂  Jot them down on your bulletin and hand them to Barbara Sweeny or Janna.  Very important task that we only have 1 or 2 people handling now.  Thanks!

Serving on Sunday:
Greeters:  Karen, Sydney, Amy
Ushers:  Russ & Donna
Kids:  Georgia, Barbara, Amy
Coffee set-up:  Sharon
Coffee clean-up:  Barbara & Buki
Coffee time goodies:  Roger is the only food volunteer   – we need  2 others to donate bagels, cream cheese, cookies or ?

Thanks for taking the time to read through your weekly connection- we can’t wait to see you on Sunday!
