End of August Connection!

Back to Church Sunday is coming fast!  Sunday, September 18th will feature another inspiring presentation by the ladies of Teen Challenge during worship followed by a potluck meal in Veno Hall.  Remember that each one of you has an important part to play as this special Sunday approaches.

You have already been asked to think about the people – young and old that you are going to invite (its not to late to start thinking!)  This Sunday you will be asked to write down the names of those you are going to invite so that we can all begin to pray for those folks.

United Church of Norwood has a long legacy of transforming lives with the Gospel. To continue that legacy, we as a community need to share God’s good news with our neighbors, friends, coworkers, and families.

Thank you all so much for your continued dedication to seeing the love of Christ shared throughout our area! Check out this video for a little extra inspiration!

Mid-August Connection

Hope you are enjoying your day!  Hard to believe we are to mid-August.  Here are some things to keep in mind over the next several days:

Sunday morning prayer time begins at about 8:45 in the church parlor. Please take advantage of this opportunity to spend time praying together for our church needs.  Sunday mornings are a busy time so you are encouraged to stop by as you can and leave when you need to.  The important thing is getting that quiet time to pray.  Worship follows at 10:00 in the sanctuary.  Great music, encouraging praises and prayer time and Pastor’s message focusing on “The Story.”  Hope to see many of you here!  Kids Connection, Nursery care and morning coffee continue as usual.

Don’t forget about our month long collection for triplets born to a church family!  It is great to see baby things arriving 🙂  Any items can be left in the display in the Welcome Center.  Diapers and onesies in small sizes are needed as well as wipes…in looking at what we have received I see we have great shoppers who are anxious to spoil Abigail, Isabella and Joel.  THANK YOU!

Our Wednesday evening meal ministry is on vacation for the month of August.  We are so thankful for our team of hard-working volunteers who are here faithfully each week.  Wednesday, August 24th is designated as kitchen clean-up day.  Time for the kitchen to have a thorough cleaning before Open Door re-opens in September.  Please speak to Georgia or Marie if you are able to come by and help that day.

Saturday, August 27th – Veno Hall will be available for anyone looking for space to work on a project.  Sometimes you need time, space and a friend to encourage you along – you can have all three on the 27th!

More info to follow, but…the week of August 29th is church clean-up week.  There will be a list of tasks that need to be tackled and supplies will be here.

How different?  Traditionally we have a small table on the Common – this year we have the whole church yard!

We needs lots of help.  You can help with the food – popping popcorn and handing out lemonade.  We will be telling visitors who we are and what we do, handing out flyers and brochures on everything from the Open Door to Bible Studies.  Watch for the sign-up sheets on Sunday morning.

Thanks for taking a moment to stay up to date on what’s going on in the midst of this summer heat! Stay tuned for more as we start thinking more about what the fall is going to look like!
