End Of Year Updates!

Hope you enjoyed a wonderful Christmas Day with your friends and family!  As we look forward to the year ahead, take time to think about the many ways God has provided during the past year.  That is a good reminder of God’s constant love and presence in our lives.

Sunday is New Year’s Day!  Start the year with your church family with worship at 10:00.  Communion will also be offered this Sunday.  Nursery Care will be provided during Pastor Kevin’s message only.  Coloring packs are available at the back of the church for all kids.  Coffee time in Veno Hall follows worship.

We recently received another letter from Kevin, our Compassion Child in Ecuador.  Cindy Rudolph and Yuniya Simms are writing to him regularly.  Compassion has done some updates to the system so we are able to send/receive letters much more regularly.  Thank you Yuniya and Cindy for being willing to take care of this.  This is probably the only correspondence Kevin receives so I am sure he looks forward to those encouraging words!

For those of you who packed shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child…if you paid for your shipping online and printed out your label online, you should now be able to check and see where your box was delivered.  I learned that my box was delivered to Burundi in Africa!  Let me know where your box landed!

The Christmas Eve offering received was $407.00.  We typically do not receive an offering on Christmas Eve but this year there was an opportunity for people to make a special contribution for our Open Door ministry.  We are grateful for the generosity that was shown.

Please note that our Annual Meeting is scheduled for Sunday, January 29th following worship.  Please have all reports to the church office no later than January 22.  If you are unsure if you need to prepare a report, please see Barbara Sweeny.

***Following worship on Sunday there will be an important meeting for all those involved with the Open Door AND also for the Building Stewards.  Get your coffee and head to the Welcome Center.  IMPORTANT MEETING!***

MOMS & TOTS group will meet on Saturday, January 7th at 11:00 downstairs in the Nursery space.

Offering envelopes for 2017 will be available on Sunday, January 8.  For this Sunday, please use a pew envelope or any that you may have left from last year.  Be sure and mark your name on the envelope!

Pastor Kevin will be continuing his series from “The Story” next Sunday, January 8th – picking up with the Old Testament prophet, Samuel.

Mid-December Updates!

Updates are back!  As we enter into the last stages of the Advent Season and look towards Christmas, we have plenty to share!  As always, we have activities here at church designed to encourage you and help you grow in your faith walk.  Please take advantage of these things!

Sunday is the 4th Sunday of Advent.  Plan now to be here at 10:00 as we look forward to Christmas and the birth of our Savior.  Wonderful music from our choir, special offertory, scripture, praises and prayers and the lighting of the Advent Candle.  We are in need of someone or a group of people to do the candle lighting and reading. Give Pastor a call or speak to him on Sunday morning.   Kids Connection is in place and coffee time follows worship in Veno Hall.

An opportunity for prayer happens each Sunday morning prior to worship in the church parlor beginning at about 8:45.  Come and go as you need to.

Young Life meets on Monday evening at 7:27 on the top floor.  Young Life is then on winter break for January and February.

Church Council meets on Monday evening at 7:00 in the Council Room.

MANY MANY thanks to Cindy and Kaitie Frank for all their work in coordinating Christmas gifts for a young family.  And to everyone who contributed to this effort – thank you.  You have helped to make a Merry Christmas for this family!

A Byzantine Christmas ’16  Interested in experiencing the music and story of Christmas from another Christian tradition?  Join Pastor Kevin on December 22nd in Cambridge.  For more information see Pastor Kevin (he’s going!)

Don’t forget to post your Christmas Card on the board in the Welcome Center!  And be sure and stop and read the cards – they are for you!

This is the last Sunday to purchase poinsettias.  Look for the insert in your bulletin on Sunday.  I gave incorrect info last week.  The poinsettias will be in the sanctuary for Christmas Eve, Christmas and New Years Sundays.  So you still have time to order them.  The cost is $12.00.  They are being delivered Friday, the 23rd.

Once again, there will be 2 Christmas Eve services this year.  There will be a casual family time at 5:00, meeting in the Welcome Center with carol singing and Christmas stories.  Warm beverages and Christmas treats included!  At 10:00 we will have our traditional candle light service with our friend, Felice Pomeranz as guest harpist.  Christmas carol singing, music from our choir and a message from Pastor Kevin as we usher in Christmas Day.  Please plan now to join us for one of these services.

Christmas Day worship is at 10:00am as we celebrate the birth of our Savior!
