St. Patrick’s Day Connection

Hi everyone, Hope you are having a great week!  The “blizzard” was a little bit of a surprise but Spring is just about here.  And for those of you in the area, Bubbling Brook opens next week –  always a good sign!

Saturday morning at 9:00 is the next WISH Gathering.  Some business, some fun, some work! About a dozen of us went to the Chocolate Party fundraiser for BLOOM last Saturday – I expect some of our time will be chatting about that ministry.  WISH is always an enjoyable time for women of all ages.  Ladies, check your email for updates from Cindy.  Everyone welcome!

Sunday morning worship is at 10:00.  We hope that you can plan  now to set aside this time to be here with your church family.  Wasn’t the music last Sunday great!  It promises to be equally great this Sunday!  Our choir, led by Steve, will be singing twice with a guest trumpeter, Rachel leads our Praise Team and Chris’ piano and organ music is such a blessing!  A time for your prayer concerns and praises, Kids Connection and coffee to follow.

From Pastor Kevin:  What is a mystery? I don’t mean a mystery in the way of a mystery novel. Nor do I mean mystery in the sense in which a researcher looks for the causes of cancer. I mean mystery as in a mystery of faith. In the ninth chapter of the gospel of John – the Scripture for this Sunday’s sermon – the disciples ask Jesus to explain the blindness of a wretched beggar: “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents that he was born blind?” Hearing Jesus response allows us explore the meaning of faith mysteries in our own lives. See you on Sunday!

The Administrative Team will meet on Tuesday evening at 7:00.

Under 40 Discussion Group will meet this Sunday following worship at 11:30 in the nursery space so parents can come with their little ones.  We’ll have seating and an enhanced sound system for the video portion so we can hear over any noise of the little ones.  It’s great to connect together as friends and families on our faith journeys!

Moms and Tots will be meeting at the Walpole Mall Thursday the 23rd at the Barnes & Noble Cafe  to have some treats together, and then enjoy some time in the play area inside the mall.

A great chance to learn more about faith and family life is taking place at a neighboring church in Norfolk, with a great conference on Saturday March 25th, 9-12am, with childcare for kids ages 5 and younger.  Check out more into here: Faith at Home Weekend 2017

Young Life Capernaum is Young Life’s ministry to teens with disabilities, and it will be sponsoring its annual Talent Night here at the church Saturday April 8th. The goal is to raise money for the camp scholarship fund for teens with disabilities and their high school peer mentors/buddies to go to summer camp in Virginia. Tickets are $5.  If you or someone you know might be interested in sponsoring the event through an advertisement in the event program, contact Meg Nelson at faithfulmeg@yahoo.com by March 26th.  There’s quarter page ads starting at $25, half page ads at $50, and full page ads for $100.   This is a fun night where our typical Young Life High School teens, Capernaum teens, Wyld Life Middle Schoolers, and Young Life leaders all come together for a great celebration, it would be great to see our church well represented as a host location!

Ladies involved in the Women’s Book Study are reminded of the next meeting on Saturday, March 25th at 9:30.  Please read Chapter #4 in preparation.

Local Operation Christmas Child volunteers will be hosting an “Afternoon of Celebration” to celebrate all that the Lord did through the ministry of Operation Christmas Child in 2016.  Learn how many shoeboxes were collected, locally, regionally and nationally and hear about other opportunities to serve!  This will be on Saturday, March 25th at 2:00pm at Heritage Park Baptist Church in Burlington.  I have more details in the office. Please see me with any questions. Sounds like a great afternoon!
