Hi everyone, It has certainly been a busy week! As we head into the holiday season, we have lots of opportunities for you to be involved here. I am going to give you want you need to stay in the know here at UCN!
A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who helped out with our Open Door Thanksgiving meal Wednesday evening! We were blessed to serve 60 people a wonderful turkey dinner with all the fixins’. It is so encouraging to see people work together as a church family and offer a hot meal, a safe space and good conversation to folks! Thank you again to everyone who contributed a food item, volunteered to serve or cook, baked, and spent their day here to make this happen. You made all the difference!
Last call for Pie Day orders! Please let the office know if you are interested in purchasing a Thanksgiving pie. $12.00 spent here saves you baking time during Thanksgiving week! The WISH ladies will be baking up a storm on Saturday at church 🙂 Pies will be available for pick up on Sunday during coffee time.
Sunday worship begins at 10:00. This is Thanksgiving Sunday – wonderful seasonal music, great message from Pastor Kevin and a time to share our prayer needs and praises. What are you thankful for this year? Perhaps there is something you can share on Sunday that you are especially grateful for. Kids Connection and coffee time are both in place. The “Mary” study meets during coffee time.
Don’t forget to bring your Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes back this Sunday. The boxes must be delivered to Sharon on Sunday afternoon. Can you help out with this? Please let the office or Pastor Kevin know. THANK YOU!
A wonderful opportunity has been brought to our attention. Sunrise Center in Norwood would like our help in providing some sort of spiritual time for some of the Alzheimer’s patients. This is exciting as these patients have requested this time. Can you help out? This would be a monthly time for about a half hour. We have one person who is interested in playing some hymns and other music. We need about 3 more people. Perhaps one to “greet” the residents, one to give a brief devotional (about 5 minutes) and someone else as needed. Please pray about this – can you be involved? Again, this is less than an hour commitment each month. Thank you!
Christmas Fair update: Please SIGN UP to help – we need lots of people to make the Fair a success! Many hands make for joyous labor. In addition to signing up to work, there are other ways to help: Pick up items for a themed raffle basket. Plan your holiday baking to include baked goods and candy for the bake table. And clean out your space for the holidays by donating your gently used items to the Treasures room! [No electronics, TVs, microwaves, or clothing]. You can bring your items down Sunday and leave them in the Welcome Center, or check with the church office during the week. If you have any questions, please be in touch: email@example.com. Any and all suggestions are welcome. ~ Barbara Sweeny
Sign-up sheet in Veno Hall for luncheon supplies need for the Christmas Fair. This year we are asking for donations for the food items needed for the luncheon served at the Fair. We’d appreciate your help!
